Get Connected speaker to cover talking to kids about sex

The Get Connected Parent Network invites parents to hear from Mary Kost, coordinator of Sexual, Health and Relationship Education (SHARE) for Pregnancy Support Connection, Inc. Kost will speak Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. on “How to Talk to Your Kids About Sex.” The presentation, which is free and open to the public, will be at Maple Avenue Elementary School, W240 N6059 Maple Avenue, Sussex
This presentation will include information on:
- character-building, life skills;
- education and family values;
- friend, family awareness and communication;
- language and terminology;
- media influence, effects and impact; and
- realized and missed opportunities.
Kost’s presentation will focus on issues most relevant to parents of children in elementary school, however all parents are welcome to attend – regardless of their children’s age or school district in which they reside. Free babysitting is available at this session.
Kost, RDH, BSED, has been a hygienist, educator and speaker who has resided in Waukesha County for the past 19 years. She has experiences in both public and private schools for the Lifesavers and Lifesavers Plus Program. Pregnancy Support Connection, formerly known as UP Connection, Inc., is a nonprofit organization that provides pregnancy prevention programs and education, information, referral and support services. It serves pregnant, young women in Waukesha and Milwaukee Counties.
The Get Connected Parent Network helps parents navigate children through their school years by providing age-appropriate information, networking with other parents, presentations from professionals and guidance and support.
