Hamilton DECA students earn record 25 awards PDF Print

Hamilton High School came away with 25 awards and 15 students qualified for state competition Jan. 5 at the Southeastern Wisconsin Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) Career Development Conference at Kettle Moraine High School.

Students competed in 11 of 18 career related categories. Hamilton business education teacher and DECA advisor Skip Hay congratulated students on their outstanding performance at the conference.

The following students earned medals, qualified for state competition and placed in the top five in their overall categories:
  • Halley Greeneway and Holly Rindfleisch, first place, travel and tourism marketing;
  • Kyle McClone and Chris McCormick, first place, financial analysis marketing;
  • Ryan Zahn, third place, restaurant management; and
  • Shane Kelly and Jared Omick, fifth place, travel and tourism marketing.

Students who earned medals and qualified for state competition with outstanding scores were:
  • Shaun Lena and Samuel Mulkey, sports and entertainment marketing;
  • Stephanie Henckel, food marketing;
  • Cody Ellis, retail marketing;
  • Sonya Ruminski and Emily Rindfleisch, buying and merchandising; and
  • Christopher Ebsen and Mitchell Muehler, sports and entertainment marketing.

The following students earned at least one medal in their respective categories:
  • Marcus Paulson, retail marketing; and
  • Samantha Jansen and Matthew Jacewicz, business law and ethics.

In addition to these individual and team awards, the Hamilton DECA Chapter received the “Acts of Kindness” award for its Adopt-A-Classroom activities.

DECA State Competition will be March 11 – 13 at the Grand Geneva Resort in Lake Geneva. Winners will advance to international competition in Atlanta in April.
