Hamilton High School student LaSalle Body was accepted into “The Other America Tour,” a program that promotes diversity and equity in the education system. The Tour was created in 2001 to increase socio-cultural awareness, responsibility and action among Wisconsin youth.

Upon completion of a 70-hour training program, Body will travel to high schools across the state to educate peers. “The Other America Tour” takes participants through a three-part program that helps them to understand issues through awareness, responsibility and action. The highly interactive program features the “Tunnel of Oppression,” live poetry, spoken word performances, activities and guided small-group discussions. It is intended to build skills among youth to increase confidence in taking positive action in their schools and communities.
