Hamilton School District residents have one more option in their quest to be fit, now that Hamilton High School’s Fitness Center is open to the community. The center was made possible because of federal grants and is used during the school day for fitness education classes. The grants were awarded to the school district with the stipulation that equipment could be available to the community.

The Fitness Center features weight and elliptical machines, treadmills, stationary bicycles, aerobic bars, workout mats and fitness balls. Located on the second floor on the southeast side of the high school, the Fitness Center will operate from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday until the last teacher attendance day in June.

Membership cards are required at a fee that offsets the cost of supervision and maintenance. Monthly fees are:
  • School district residents: $10 single, $15 couple and $20 family;
  • Senior citizen residents: $6 single and $9 couple;
  • Non-residents: $20 single, $30 couple and $40 family;
  • Senior citizen nonresidents: $12 single and $18 couple.

Shower and locker facilities are not available. The youngest level for admission is ninth grade.

Thanks to a partnership with Carroll College, people using the Fitness Center may get assistance from an advanced-level Exercise Science student who will create a customized fitness routine. The students gain practical experience in their field of study while helping community members reach their fitness goals.

People with questions about the Fitness Center can leave a message for Laura DeStefanis at (262) 246-6471 voice mail 1173. Hamilton High School is located at W220 N6151 Town Line Road, Sussex.
