Hamilton School District residents have one more option in their quest to be fit, now that Hamilton High School’s Fitness Center is open to the community. The center was made possible because of federal grants and is used during the school day for fitness education classes. The grants were awarded to the school district last year with the stipulation that equipment will be available to the community after the first year.

The Fitness Center features weight and elliptical machines, treadmills, stationary bicycles, aerobic bars, workout mats and fitness balls. Located on the second floor on the southeast side of the high school, the Fitness Center will operate from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning Sept. 1 until the last teacher attendance day in June.

Membership cards are required and are now free, but beginning in September, a modest fee will be charged to offset the cost of supervision and maintenance. Shower and locker facilities are not available. The youngest level for admission is seventh grade.

People with questions about the Fitness Center should contact the high school at (262) 246-6471 ext. 1101. Hamilton High School is located at W220 N6151 Town Line Road, Sussex.
