Four Templeton Middle School eighth grade band members participated Nov. 12, 13 and 14 in the 38th Annual Honors Band Festival at the University of Wisconsin (UW) - Milwaukee. Students participating in the festival were:

  • Darcie Adams – tenor saxophone;
  • Alexandra Koelbl – flute;
  • Ellen Kudronowicz – clarinet; and
  • Mark Slinde – trumpet.

Students were selected from approximately 700 nominations from across Wisconsin and Illinois. The students participated in all-day rehearsals and instrument master classes on Nov. 12 and 13. The festival concluded the following day with a concert at the Helene Zelazo Center for the Performing Arts on the UW-Milwaukee campus. Students in the festival were divided into three performance bands: the Nebraska Honors Band, directed by Christopher Werner from the University of Nebraska; the Minnesota Honors Band, directed by Elizabeth Jackson-Kirchhoff from the University of Minnesota; and the Louisiana Honors Band, directed by Rudy Gilbert from Mandeville, La.
