Senegalese dancer, drummer to perform at Hamilton PDF Print

Hamilton High School students will gain a new understanding of dance when Ndongo “Lucky” Diop, dancer and drummer from Senegal, Africa, performs for physical education, music and world languages classes. Diop will perform at various times from 7:20 a.m. to 2:25 p.m. on Feb. 20.

Diop will expose students to a new understanding of dance that is centered on the traditions of his native Senegal. Students will experience dance with movements that hold meanings, including connections to the earth and ancestors. Students will learn about the African continent with its vast size and population, 2,000 spoken languages and 55 countries including island nations near Madagascar.

The school’s Club Unique is sponsoring this event in celebration of African-American History month. The school is located at W220 N6151 Town Line Rd., Sussex.
