Lannon Chess Club to begin in March PDF Print
Sunday, February 15, 2004 6:00 pm
Lannon Elementary School is forming an afterschool Chess Club for its students in third, fourth and fifth grades. Students will meet in the school library from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesdays in March.

There are three levels of play to accommodate all types of learners:
  • beginners - for those who want to learn the moves and some basic strategies;
  • players – students who know how to play and want practice playing others; and
  • challengers - chess masters who want to challenge high school chess players.

Lannon School chess champions will be determined March 31 at a chess tournament for Chess Club members.

Lannon third grade teacher Laureanna Raymond is coordinating this activity. Students should send in a signed permission slip and package of cookies for a treat if they are interested in joining the Lannon Chess Club. For more information, contact Raymond at 255-6106.

Lannon Elementary School is located at 7145 N. Lannon Rd., Lannon.
